Lottery Fund Application: HELP FROM SUPPORTERS PLEASE

May We Call on Your Support?

Supporters of the Battle Trust's Campaign will know that all our work and activity this far has been supported by private donors and pro bono contributions - and God Bless Them All. What a team!

Next step is to table an application with the Heritage Lottery Fund [HLF] for a Your Heritage Grant in the region of £55,000 with the following aims:

1. Battlesite Fieldwalking with Battlefield Archaeologist Dr Tony Pollard [Two Men in a Trench fame] and East Lothian County Archaeologist Biddy Simpson [Morrison's Haven and Pinkie fame].

Outcome? We get a better understanding of the battlefield and search for any remaining relics to be found.

2. Community Symposium with Herbert Coutts [Edinburgh Culture and Arts fame] and Gordon Prestoungrange [feudal Baron in these parts fame]

Outcome? We commence a series of biennial [every two years] symposia that bring together all stakeholders in the Battle's interpretation with 'published' papers and records.

3. Battlefield Guidance with Peter Mackenzie [Walking since 2000 fame]

Outcome? We develop a corps of 'trained' Guides who can look after visitors to the Centre and especially during the annual celebrations.

In each of these areas we are looking for Supporters to indicate that they would be interested 'when' we get the Grant from HLF in making sure each area gets a great result.
