Apologies for Early Take-Down of Tapestry at Cockenzie House

Sincere Apologies to all who were obviously disappointed

We do apologise most sincerely to those who travelled to see The Prestonpans Tapestry on its final advertised weekend at Cockenzie House - and were disappointed.

The decision to take-down early was made to protect the artwork during other events at Cockenzie House that weekend, including a Ghost Night.
It was also the case that on Sunday the street arrangements for the Marathon would have severely limited access.

The tapestry is currently being carefully assessed for both immediate attention to sagging which has arisen from 8 years now of exhibitions and conservation as we prepare for a permanent home for it alongside the much travelled Scottish Diaspora Tapestry.

No 'next exhibition' dates have been announced for the Prestonpans Tapestry but discussions are under way with Garioch Heritage Centre close by the Battle of Inverurie 1745 site - where the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry has just extended its 3 month exhibition for a further 4 weeks till November 10th.
