'New' Musical Hits Town - THE MINERS' GALA - October 2nd Prestonpans Town Hall

Workshop Preview at Prestonpans Town Hall - October 2nd @ 7.30pm - Entry by Donation

Including music by Davy Steele and written by Andrew Dallmeyer of Battle of Pots 'n Pans fame, a new musical will have its Workshop Theatre Premiere in the Town Hall on October 2nd @ 7.30pm.

What's it all about?

It's about Miners' Gala Day from which it takes its title, with Panners and Belters deeply involved. And plenty of singing ...

It's the Arts Festival's contribution to the Prestonpans Miners' Memorial campaign - and all donations received will go to help swell the funds to get the memorial, long championed by the Community Council, created.

In 2011 the musical, The Miners' Gala, will tour local Miners' Clubs and make its way to the Edinburgh Fringe as well.

Entrance by donation at 7.30 pm on Saturday October 2nd

We're not selling/ issuing tickets but we do invite all who come, and all are welcome of course, to contribute as they may be able, towards the future memorial. All proceeds from the 2011 Tour and Fringe will also go to the memorial.

Have you spotted the new mural going up at the Labour Club yet?

A new Arts Festival mural is in progress at the side of the Labour Club. Take a look. It's by Michael Jessing, winner of the Murals Fest in Cuthill Park in 2009 depicting Prestongrange Miners at work below the ground.
