It's Global Chemainus 2012 then Global Sherbrooke Quebec in 2014 ....

After Colquitt #7, it has to be great .... and Chemainus gets the baton for #8 ...

Colquitt must surely be relaxing this week after the fantastic Global Conference #7 they hosted October 25th/ 30th in Southern Georgia. More of that in the coming days ...

But at Colquitt decisions were afoot to announce the 2012 biennial conference venue, and to reinstate the four year horizon to 2014.

It's Chemainus in 2012 with so much to tell ...

President Dr. Karl Schutz had to withdraw as Members present considered the options for 2012 and 2014, since Chemainus was an applicant! But there was little difficulty in agreeing that a conferential return to Chemainus in 2012 would be an excellent option because so much has happened since 1998. There's Best Western, a new roundabout [traffic circle?], Emily Carr trompe l'oeil, new currency, new murals, restored old murals and so forth ....

Dates are not yet confirmed but will be soon .... Karl was his usual self in confirming the designation CHEMAINUS 2012 to colleagues back home!

"The official announcement was made by the Vice President of the Global Mural Arts & Cultural Tourism Association (GMA), Dr. Gordon, The Baron of Prestoungrange.

"In his cheeky way he announced: Even though I know this will come as a great disappointment to you, the 2012 Global Mural Conference will be held in ..... CHEMAINUS - and this decision is final!

"After a split second of silence - thunderous applause, whistles and shouts of BRAVO!!

"If all those who told me they will be in Chemainus in 2012 come, including the Colquitt Mayor and his wife, as well as the Mayor of Blakely Georgia, a 2010 co-host, we will have a full house.

"Respectfully: Karl"

... and it's SHERBROOKE, QUEBEC for 2014 ...

Members agreed further to reinstate the Association's protocols which announce the venue on a rolling four year basis - it gave Colquitt enough time to work miracles and more and Sheffield [2008] and Prestonpans [2006] before that ...

The applicants were considered and Sherbrooke Quebec, our first large city venue was chosen. Coming as it does from Eastern Canada it will give Members an excellent opportunity to also visit/ learn about the myriad smaller communities thereabouts at the same time. Such a Forum has already been suggested for the 9th Global Biennial Conference after hearing the full tale from Sherbrooke of course!

Once again, dates will be announced shortly. For the moment, take a peek - SHERBROOKE IS LINKED HERE
