Prestonpans Pottery Road Show a Triumph ...

Flood of Prestonpans Pottery Comes to The Road Show

The Road Show led by Graeme Cruickshank, the Prestopnpans Pottery Exhibition Curator, on March 3rd and 4th has been an outstanding success. Well in excess of 100 families and friends came to The Prestoungrange Gothenburg with the widest possible assortment of Prestonpans Pots. Virtually all have been photographed by Linda Sneddon for potential inclusion in the forthcoming definitive Catalogue that Graeme will be producing for the Exhibition in August and September at St Andrew's Episcopal Church on Ayres Wynd.

That Exhibition now expects to have more than a hundred pots on display with many of the finest examples from local residents supplemented by pots from the East Lothian Museum collection.

Such was the volume of residents keen to share their family treasures and heirlooms, and to discuss their open market values, that the 11 am - 2 pm scheduled time was extended on Saturday and Sunday until nigh 4 pm.

Gillian Hart is the Arts Festival Co-ordinator of the Pottery Road Show and Exhibition, working closely with Graeme Cruickshank. She was "delighted" with the response. "It's always extremely hard to know just how many residents will respond to an invitation to such a Road Show, and it's hard to know how many still own their precious Pans pottery. But now we know, and we are both well pleased. It augurs extremely well for attendances and enjoyment at the Exhibition in August/ September."

Together they are preparing a series of symposia and educational visits throughout the Exhibition's six week run at St Andrew's Church. Speakers and guests from across Scotland are expected.
