John Muir 'Journey for The Wild' Comes to the Pans

September 29th a Big Muir Day in The Pans

John Muir is a folk hero on both sides of the Atlantic, and his commemorative John Muir Way passes right along the East Lothian coastline and past the door of The Prestoungrange Gothenburg.

As such it is scarcely surprising that the Journey for The Wild in hand this summer by The John Muir Trust passes the doors and calls for celebration on September 29th in particular. Annemarie Allan, the Prestoungrange Arts Festival's Walker-in-Chief and Andrew Ralton, East Lothian Council's Nortrail Officer, are nudging things along locally.

Phase I: Walk from Seton Sands to The Prestoungrange Gothenburg; OR join Jan Barker On The Beach collecting litter and the like in the very best Muirite tradition of preserving the environment.[In the latter case, there are thoughts of a gigantic sculpture from their findings!]

Phase II Take refreshment at The James Fewell Bar and/ or in the James Park Bistro - including if it appeals the John Muir 80/- Ale brewed especially in the microbrewery for the occasion.

Phase III Either join the Beach Barbecue or [if invited] The Muir Supper @ The Prestoungrange Gothenburg.

Phase IV Rest up overnight ready for the Final Walk to Edinburgh.

Kate Hunter was more than happy as she worked to restore her mural that includes John Muir on the foreshore to chat with Sam Baumber, the Society's Activities Organiser, as pictured below:
