Northampton Charter Mural Unveiled ... inspired by The Pans

Gillian Lindsay inspired to create the Northampton Charter Tapestry

As most will know, The Prestonpans Tapestry has inspired a goodly few others across Scotland, in Belgium, in New Zealand and in England to stitch their own artworks.

One in particular is now completed and was unveiled on November 7th in Northampton. It relates in its central panel the Grant of Royal Charter to the ancient city and around the edge a series of panels depicting each century since. Gillian Lindsay is third from left below.

Gillian Lindsay, who stitched the Scottish Prime Ministers panel [GBE21] for us in the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry and the Home and a Job Corby panel [GBE02] was the instigator and Lead Stitcher.

It's quite a different design of course - not our familiar Andrew Crummy illustrative approach, but it's Appleton Wools all the way of course!
