This is a last Call to all Global Murals Association members to be there if they can. Mural Routes are pace setters for us all, and this 12th Canadian National Mural Symposium 2009 is a unique professional development opportunity for artists, arts administrators, arts educators, public art consultants and creative developers of community space.

This year, Mural Routes 12th Annual Symposium is hosted in Midland, Ontario, home of North America’s largest outdoor historic mural, and 34 heritage murals in the downtown area. LINK HERE.

Featured keynote address on Saturday October 17 - UK/Berlin artist Mat Hand. www.handmademurals.com
Mat Hand has established a reputation as a professional artist and mentor with a passion for public art. His bold site-specific murals create dynamic living, learning and working environments. As a public performance artist, Mat's public art performances have earned several titles in the Guinness World Record Book. www.mathand.co.uk . Mat’s address will reference his arts practice in order to explore portraiture within the public realm, the possibility of working off the wall with non-traditional media and the merits of temporary murals.

The Fellowship of the Wall, building your mural team, streamlining the project process and clarifying roles for organizers, artists, property owners and funders - an interactive session for administrators

Working on Alternative Surfaces, an introduction to painting on non-woven material and working on utility boxes.

Understanding the Graffiti Art Culture, its history, current context and a hands-on workshop to create your own tag
