Arts Exhibition Blossoms from Millennium Grant!

The Millennium Commission's award of £1800 in 2003 is bearing excellent fruit under Andrew Crummy's leadership. Painting and Drawing Classes have been held weekly in the Lindsay Suite at The Cockenzie Centre.

Now The Prestoungrange Arts Festival has agreed to underwrite further classes there at least until end 2004. Its based on a win-win barter deal that has the painting classes committed to creating a new mural for the trail depicting the Battle of Prestonpans.

The twenty plus who have been involved thus far are proudly presenting their first Exhibition at The Gothenburg in April/ May, with more than a score of very fine paintings to be offered for sale.

Just a hint of what will be coming forward is given above but Brushstrokes #7 next month will be giving all the details.

More Arts Classes Wanted for 2004 & 2005

The facilities in the Lindsay Suite are now beginning to accommodate batique classes as well. But more activities are to be welcomed! The fixed rental expense is being met so new activities can join for only marginal additional expense.

One new direction is likely to be Bagpipe Classes under the initiative of Lindsay Davidson, the outstanding young bagpiper who is currently completing the world's first Bagpipe Opera for performance in East Lothian in 2005.

But more Painting and Drawing Classes are to be welcomed and Writing Classes are scheduled too.

Back to Class Movement Booming

The ancient art of brewing is to be shared in classes at The Prestoungrange Gothenburg once Fowler's Ales new microbrewery is established in May; and the inaugural brews are to be from a 'Celebrities? Let Them In' Team and a Fowlers Heritage Team being recruited by Beatrice 'Bet' (Hogg) Ferrier!
